The PAK-IT-LITE© Scout has the same Patented hammock body design as the F.O.B and ReconMN. In fact, all three are cut from the same pattern. The hammock body is a wind & water resistant taslan nylon that has the look and feel of cotton but there is no top enclosure. Also, unlike the F.O.B and RecomMN, which have a fix ridgeline, the Scout has none. Because of this, we use an 8’ cheater line that helps hang the hammock in order to achieve the proper sag that mimics the design of the other hammocks.

The sole purpose of the Scout was to offer ultra lite backpackers an option for a lightweight but very durable and very warm hammock. The hammock body is a DLS (Double Layer System) using breathable 30D ripstop nylon for the inner layer. This layer forms three pockets inside the hammock. The main 86x26.5 bed pocket will hold a closed cell foam pad for added heat retention. On both sides of the bed pocket are large insulating pockets that hold clothing (just stow all the clothing in your pack), which provides more heat retention.

The PAK-IT-LITE© rain fly (optional only) is engineered around the design of PAK-IT-LITE© hammocks. The rain fly’s Patented “Peaked” design provides rain protection as you sit or stand at the hammocks doorway way. Sidewalls on the fly protect the hammock ends from driving rains. There are no sewn seams directly over the hammock itself and the fly’s peak can be adjusted (with an optional hiking pole) up or down depending on the severity of the weather. With the peak in the full down position, the fly tucks under the hammock and creates a bombproof shell in driving rain. The fly can be set up without the hammock as a shelter for ultra light backpacking.
